Can’t make it during Start Week?
No problem – you can still begin aikido training at any time after start week: Mondays 17:30–18:30 or Wednesdays 18:00–19:00
Is Start Week for you? Yes – if you answered “yes” to even one of these:
- You’re over 15 and would like to start a new hobby
- You’re interested in martial arts
– You want to start with martial art without competition
– You already practice another martial art and want to explore aikido - The tatami is calling you back:
– You’ve practiced aikido before, but life took you in a different direction
– You train elsewhere but are now visiting Helsinki and miss the tatami - You’re curious and looking for variety:
– You want a well-rounded physical practice
Whatever your reason, you’re warmly welcome to join our Start Week!
What happens during Start Week?
- No experience needed – complete beginners welcome
- Free training all week
- You won’t be alone – experienced aikidokas support newcomers and returners
- Friendly community – meet other practitioners and get a great first taste of aikido
Start Week is for everyone aged 15 and up – whether it’s your first time, a comeback, or a visit from another dojo.

Come move, meet people, and step onto the tatami – all Start Week classes are open and free!
- Classes are held at Awase Helsinki Dojo – Kaapelitehdas, staircase C, 4th floor
- Sign up here or just come along!
What to bring:
- Comfortable indoor sportswear
- A towel to wash your feet before stepping on the tatami
- Sandals or similar footwear for the space between the changing room and tatami
